Why choose natural grooming/skincare? What are the benefits of Natural skincare?
Many leading grooming and skincare products contain toxic chemicals and when used daily over a long period of time, rather then improving the skin's appearance, they can have adverse effects such as drying out the skin, increasing skin problems, allergies and not to mention health risks. There is research to suggest that toxic chemicals in products can build up within the body causing future health risks. By using natural skin care products you will insure your skin does not come into contact with toxic chemicals and considerably minimise the amount of preservatives you put on your skin. If you want to inform yourself on the toxic chemicals found in many leading grooming products check out our Chemical to Avoid page. Natural skin care products largely comprise of ingredients that are naturally derived from plant extracts. These natural ingredients are specifically used to help the skin maintain a healthy and youthful appearance. To find out what benefits natural ingredients provide see our Ingredients Glossary list.

Why men need unique skincare products?

Men's skin is different from women's skin. The top layer on a man's skin is almost 20% thicker than a woman's. It also has larger pores, higher blood supply and higher number of active oil- producing glands. This results in men's skin being oiler and more prone to sweating. Because of this, men's pores are more prone to clogging, causing blackheads and spots. As a result, men's skin requires stronger cleansers and lighter moisturisers than what women use. Because men shave, their skin is also more prone to irritation and ingrown hairs. It is also prone to sun damage as result of shaving remove the top layer of the skin. To tackle these problems, specialist men's products are required, such as balms, scrubs and SPF moisturisers.  It's not all bad news: men's skin is naturally firmer then women's skin, as it is rich in collagen and elastin levels, making men's skin less prone to ageing. However success in having good skin also lies in how well one takes care of their skin!

What's wrong with using just soap to clean my skin?

Regular soap is often made with strong artificial fragrance and harsh degreasing agents. The skin on the face is very sensitive and will easily be irritated and dry out by coming into contact with harsh ingredients present in regular soaps. Cleansers are designed to work with the skin natural ph balance and do not contain harsh chemicals that will irritate the skin.

What is the best way to clean my skin?

My skin often gets irritated easily and can go red and blotchy?

If you suffer from the above symptoms you probably have sensitive skin. Sensitive skin will often react to grooming products which contain harsh chemicals. Our ranges of natural products don't contain any harsh chemical and should not cause any allergic reaction. Sensitive skin types should also use very gentle cleansers and exfoliators developed for sensitive skin. Sun can burn and irritate the skin easily. Fair sensitive skin type should also use SPF moisturiser or sun cream to protect the skin from the sun.

How can I revitalise dull and tired-looking skin?

Stress endured by working long hours, exercising, and living in a polluted environment can all take a toll on our skin. When we are tired and stressed, the skin looses moisture and our body produces excess free radicals, which are chemicals that damage cells. To fight these free radicals it is important to have a healthy diet and rest when we can. The skin can also be helped by using anti-ageing skin care products and serums, which contain nutrients to help bring the skin back to life and maintain its healthy youthful look. It also important to use a moisturiser to help replace the skin's lost moisture.

What can I do to get rid of blackheads?
Blackheads are formed by oil building up and getting clogged in the pores of the skin. Oil build up turns black which is why they look like small black dots. They are often found on the T-zone: nose, chin and forehead but can also appear anywhere. The best way to reduce and prevent from forming is by cleansing twice daily and regularly exfoliating two to three times per week. Face masks can also be effective as they help to unclog pores.

Do I need be using a scrub or exfoliator regularly?

A face scrub and exfoliator are the same thing. They are designed to exfoliate (remove) dead cells from the surface of the skin and unclog pores, stop in-grown hairs and regenerate the skin. Exfoliating allows your skin to 'breathe' and revitalises. It is equally important to do this without using any harsh chemical based products. The exfoliating particles are usually made from the shells of crushed nuts or polythene beads. Exfoliating should only be done two or three times a week, depending on your skin type. Same principles apply for body scrubs (contains large exfoliating particles), which can be used all over the body except for the face and neck.
